Consecutive folio numbering for courts and public offices
Numbering the folios of a case file with hundreds of pages by hand takes time and is easy to get wrong. This tool numbers every page consecutively with a box that includes the office and the case number, the way many courts and public records offices in Spanish-speaking countries require.
You can start at any folio, which is useful when the file continues a previous one, and choose where the box goes. If you need the US-style convention, use Bates Numbering instead.
How to number the folios of a case file, step by step
- 1
Select the case file PDF (merge it first if you have several files).
- 2
Enter the office, the case number and the starting folio, and choose format and position.
- 3
Download the numbered case file.
Frequently asked questions
Can I continue the numbering of a previous file?
Yes. Enter the number that follows the last folio of the previous file as the starting folio.
How is this different from Bates numbering?
Folio numbering adds a box with the office, case number and folio X of Y; Bates numbering uses a prefixed code and can run across several files.
Is the case file uploaded to the internet?
No. Numbering happens in your browser, so it's safe for files with personal data.
